PLAY GUIDES MILLENNIUM DOME LONDON 2000-2001 The
Play Guides were developed as a means of conveying information about
the contents of the Millennium Dome - Play Zone to visitors who might
be queuing or waiting. They consist of an LCD television screen mounted
onto an aluminium frame which was worn by a member of the Dome staff.
A set of illuminated buttons on the front panel controlled digital
video tracks which could be selected by the visitors. Each
clip allocated to each button gave a brief outline of one of 18 games
within the Play Zone allowing visitors to choose what they wanted
to see. A miniature camera allowed visitors to see themselves in the
television screen when the clips were not playing. The purpose of
the Guide is to provide information and entertainment simultaneously.
